How is Adegen different from other hair loss treatments?Updated 3 hours ago

Quick answer

Most hair loss products either increase blood flow (minoxidil) or lower DHT throughout your whole body (oral DHT blockers), and most stop at the active ingredients. Adegen is built around three things competitors rarely combine: ARB™, which blocks DHT right at the follicle without affecting your body's hormone levels; a delivery and compounding system (DermalDrive™ and CryoSafe™) that gets high concentrations of active ingredients to the follicle with their potency intact; and a complete 3-step system that treats the root cause, restricted blood flow at the follicle, rather than a single symptom.

Addressing the root cause, not just a symptom

Pattern hair loss starts with DHT binding at the follicle and restricting its blood supply. Over time the follicle gets less oxygen and fewer nutrients, produces thinner hair, and eventually stops.

  • Minoxidil-only treatments increase circulation but don't stop the DHT signal restricting it in the first place, like turning up the pressure on a kinked garden hose without unkinking it.
  • Oral-DHT-blocker-only treatments lower DHT across your entire body, which works but carries systemic, hormonal trade-offs.
  • ARB™ blocks DHT from binding at the follicle itself, locally, without changing the DHT levels in your body, so there's no systemic hormone effect.

It's not just the ingredients, it's the delivery

A lot of products can list impressive actives. The harder part is getting a high concentration of those actives to actually dissolve, stay stable, and penetrate the skin barrier to reach the follicle. That's the "solvent system" most companies don't talk about, and it's where much of Adegen's work lives:

  • DermalDrive™ carries the actives past the epidermis to the follicle (see our guide on DermalDrive™ delivery)
  • CryoSafe™ compounds without heat so sensitive actives keep their potency (see our guide on CryoSafe™ technology)
  • The formulas also correct for why standard minoxidil fails for many people: an estimated 40–50% are "non-responders" who lack enough of the enzyme that activates it, which is why our topicals use tretinoin to support that conversion

The science behind it

Adegen's founder, John Goss, started by trying to solve his own hair loss, testing formulas and meeting with doctors and dermatologists internationally before building around the ARB™ fatty-acid complex. Adegen now works with leading PhD chemists, including the co-inventor on the ARB™ patent on staff. The result is a formula system developed and owned in-house rather than a generic, white-label product repackaged from a third party.

A complete system, not a single product

Adegen is a 3-step system, ARB™ Shampoo+ and the Exfoliation Brush, the Microderm Scalp Roller, and the ARB™ Topical, designed so each step makes the next more effective. No single piece is meant to work alone. See our guide on the ARB™ Complete Regrowth Kit for how the steps fit together.

A note on comparisons

We don't talk down other brands. The honest difference is in approach: treating the root cause locally, investing in delivery and compounding, and combining it into a full system rather than selling one ingredient and hoping it's enough.
