How does HairIQ™ make its recommendations?Updated 17 hours ago
Quick answer
Your recommendation comes from your own answers: your hair loss pattern, how long it's been going on, what you've already tried, what you're open to, and the health and safety questions you answer along the way. Safety comes first, then what's clinically appropriate for where you are, then your preference. HairIQ™ guides the recommendation, but it doesn't make the final call: a licensed physician reviews it before anything is prescribed, and can adjust it or decline it.
What Shapes Your Recommendation
Three things, in this order:
- Safety: Some treatments aren't appropriate for some people, and that isn't negotiable. If you're pregnant or trying to conceive, we won't recommend hair loss medications at all: we'll recommend a shampoo routine that's safe to use now, and you can revisit medications later.
- Clinical fit: What we recommend tracks how much hair you're losing and how long it's been happening. Early thinning and years of loss don't call for the same protocol.
- Your preference: Within what's safe and appropriate for you, what you tell us you want governs. If you only want a topical, we won't recommend orals around it.
Your recommendation is built from those answers rather than picked off a menu. If you say you're open to anything but then decline every oral medication, you won't be handed an oral protocol anyway. What you actually told us is what you get.
A Physician Makes the Final Call
This is the part that matters most, and it's the reason you can trust the recommendation. Before anything ships, a licensed physician reviews your full intake: your HairIQ™ answers plus a brief health questionnaire. They confirm the protocol is appropriate for you, and they can adjust it, swap something out, or decline to prescribe. That's a real review by a licensed clinician, not a rubber stamp on whatever the assessment produced.
It's also why your card is authorized at checkout but only charged once a physician approves your protocol.
What if I Disagree With My Recommendation?
You're not locked in. A few options:
- Retake HairIQ™ with updated answers if your situation has changed (see our guide on retaking the HairIQ™ assessment)
- Raise it with your Adegen telehealth provider during your consultation: they can adjust based on your full medical history
- Message support and we'll route you to the right place
