I've been using the product for 30 days and don't see results: is this normal?Updated 17 hours ago
Quick answer
Yes, this is completely normal. At 30 days, your protocol has barely had time to start working at the follicle level. The hair growth cycle takes about 90 days from end to end, and visible changes generally don't show up until weeks 8–12 at the earliest. Most customers don't see meaningful density change until month 3, and the real momentum builds from there. Stay on it.
Why You Don't See Anything Yet
Hair regrowth doesn't work like skincare. The change happens at the follicle, several layers under the skin, and it has to wait for the next growth cycle to reach the surface. Here's what's actually happening in your scalp at 30 days:
- ARB™ is blocking DHT at the follicle and restoring local blood flow
- Minoxidil (topical, oral, or both) is opening potassium channels and extending the active growth phase
- Tretinoin is supporting cell turnover and improving the activation of minoxidil
Your follicles are responding. But the hairs they produced on day 30 were locked in months ago. The hairs you grow over the next 60–90 days are the ones that will reflect the improved environment.
What You Might Notice at 30 Days
Density hasn't changed yet, but you may pick up early signs: a cleaner, less oily scalp (especially with ARB™ Shampoo+), less buildup at the roots, slightly less itching, and a change in shedding intensity, either more or less, both normal at this stage. What you almost certainly won't see yet is new visible density, a hairline filling in, or crown coverage improving. That isn't the protocol failing. It's the protocol not having had time to show what it's doing.
What if I'm Shedding More?
If shedding has gotten worse since starting, this is often the "dread shed," a normal and even positive sign that follicles are entering a new growth cycle. It typically resolves by weeks 8–12. See our guide on why you shed more after starting treatment for the full explanation.
An Honest Word on the Timeline
We could tell you to expect results in 30 days. It would probably reduce cancellations in the short term. But it would be a lie, and you'd feel that lie when month 1 came and went without change. The honest version is month 3 for the first visible density changes and month 6 for real, photographable results. See our guide on when you'll see results for the full timeline.
When to Take Action
A side effect is a different conversation, and it shouldn't wait: message your Adegen provider through your account portal. Most side effects are mild and either resolve on their own or can be addressed by adjusting your protocol.
On results, if you've been on your protocol for 90+ days and aren't seeing any change at all, that's the right time to message your provider for a review. Before 90 days, the answer is almost always: stay the course. And if anything is bothering you, whether side effects, application friction, or doubt, please message us. We'd rather talk it through than have you quietly stop.
