Can my prescription be changed after the consultation?Updated 3 hours ago
Quick answer
Yes. Your prescription isn't locked once it's approved. Your Adegen telehealth provider can adjust your protocol based on how you're responding, any side effects you experience, changes in your medical history, or your goals. Message your provider through your Adegen account portal to start the conversation.
When a Prescription Change Might Make Sense
- You're not seeing the response you expected after 90+ days. Your physician may step up your variant (for example, A5 to A15) or add a DHT blocker.
- You're experiencing side effects you'd like to address. Some side effects resolve on their own; others may warrant a dose change, a switch from oral to topical, or the addition of Tadalafil.
- You want to step down to maintenance. If your protocol has been working and you want to taper to a maintenance dose, your physician can review.
- You want to step up or simplify. Adding an oral medication, switching from topical to oral, or consolidating: all in scope.
- Your medical history has changed. New medications, a new diagnosis, or any change your physician should know about can trigger a protocol review.
- Your goals have changed. Open conversation. If you're rethinking what you want out of treatment, your physician is the right person to talk to.
How to Request a Change
- Log in to your Adegen account.
- Find the messaging area for your telehealth provider.
- Write a clear, specific message: what you're experiencing, what you've noticed, what you'd like to change, and why.
- Your provider will review and respond, usually within 24–48 hours.
- If a change is approved, your next shipment is updated accordingly.
What You Can't Do
You can't self-modify a prescription. Switching between variants (for example, A15 to A15D), changing dose, or adding/removing a medication all require physician approval. This isn't bureaucracy. It's the same standard of care you'd expect from any prescribing physician.
What You Can Do Without a Physician
- Pause or skip your subscription
- Change your subscription cadence (30-day or 90-day)
- Cancel your subscription
- Reorder one-time products (Shampoo, accessories)
See our subscription guides for step-by-step instructions on any of these.
A Note on Timing
If you're considering a change because of how you're responding, please give your current protocol a fair window. Most hair growth changes, for better or worse, show up at the 90-day mark, not before. See our guides on when you'll see results and why you might shed more after starting treatment for context.
